Brutally Blunt Blog Blustering #6: Invasion of the B Movies

Well, I made it out of the East Coast alive, and was thrilled to see that Blake and Rachel kept the LAMB well fed while I was away. I'm still getting into the swing of things, so don't expect a flurry of posts, but I should be back to speed within a week or so. In the meantime, why don't you go ahead and bluster a bit...

If you're new to this feature or need a refresher, click the label at the bottom of this post and see the first few posts. Otherwise, here's the basics:

What I'll do is list a site; you're asked to critique it. But here's the catch: to induce the most honest reactions, don't leave the comment using your normal alias/login - ins
tead, go anonymous, and be as brutally honest (or complimentary) as you wish to be. Also, be specific, and naturally, don't be rude. If I deem anything inappropriate, I'll have no problem deleting the comment.

So, go to the site listed below, familiarize yourself with it for a few minutes, then come back and leave some constructive criticism and/or comments that you have.

Site: Invasion of the B Movies
LAMB#: 5
URL:

If you're up for this treatment for your site (and you're a LAMB), send me an email with the subject "Bluster Me!" If you've already done so, no need to do it again - you're on the list, and these will be going up in order of when I received your email.

I am not a fan of Chuck Norris, and even after reading your posts, I wasn't convinced. However, the point of the blustering isn't to comment on content, so I went back to a month or so ago, and I really like the style of some reviews, some movie games and other participatory posts. I'm not a fan of the black background, I find it hard to read, and I'm not sure what the title is supposed to describe about the site, but maybeI just didn't read enough. Great writing, what I did read though.

If "Lone Wolf McQuade" can't sway you, I suppose it is a lost cause. I do admit that Chuck Norris movies aren't for everybody though.

I picked the black background for selfish reasons, really. To my eyes, white words on a black background don't hurt as much as black words on a white background. Plus on the main site, the background is space-themed so I was kinda going for that.

I'm not sure what you mean by "not sure what the title is suppose to describe about the site". I do B Movies. And I needed a clever name. That's about it.

Thank you though for your honesty and for the kind words.

I haven't had a chance to get through the Chuck Norris stuff yet (final exams- I'm falling behind on my blog reading!) but usually I am a regular reader. It's one of my favorite movie blogs, I'd say. Your writing is casual, hilarious, and never fails to amuse as well as inform. I really like the in-depth movie summaries/critiques on the non-blog movie site, but it's hard to read sometimes due to the starry background.

The blog's design is fine- I understand the "white-on-black-bg" concerns but because your layout is uncluttered and font choice is readable, I don't think it's a hindrance. I think the main complaint I'd have is that you don't post reviews as often (before the Chuck Norris month began), but I understand you're working on a book. Overall, great site!

It might be nice to include more images with your posts. There's a LOT of great content, but sometimes it feels a bit overwhelming.

I really like the cleanliness of your site, so I'm not saying to junk it all up. Just add a visual break here and there to give the eye a rest.

Echoing the last commentor, I really like the cleanliness of your site as well. And though I too am not a fan of the black back/white font treatment for the eyes, it somehow doesn't bother me here.

On the other hand, and I understand this might not fit into the Blustering format, I find your main site to be horrendous to look at. I know B Movies are campy and all, but it's just a mess; I'd much rather look at the blog. Sorry.

I don't really dig Chuck Norris, even ironically, and I'm not a fan of B movies in general, but I like your writing, so that keeps me coming back to the site. I almost wish you had a different format and wrote about mainstream movies more. Oh well, can't have it all.
