Well, as you've hopefully noticed, the LAMBcast has also not been around for a bit. The events I described in the birthday post have also kept me from being successful at not being a flake in these regards. As a result, we're gonna be out of order for a couple weeks here. First up is our Halloween-themed episode (chronologically #44; #43 will be posted in a week or so, and then we'll be back in order), where host Jason, along with James, Kai, Nick, and Dylan present you with a double-live album (read: it's long) in which we discuss our Top Five flicks that scare the crap out of us. Also on top:
* Listener Feedback * LAMB of the Week * Trailer Talk: Don't Be Afraid of the Dark * Last LAMB Standing
For the LAMB of the Week, we take a look at LAMB #5, Invasion of the B Movies: If you'd like your site to be a future LAMB of the Week, hit me up via email and I'll add you to the queue.
If you're interested, you too can be a LAMBcaster - we love new blood! For more information on the LAMBcast, check out the topic at the LAMB Forums. Music provided royalty-free by Kevin MacLeod's Incompetech website. Big thanks to Kevin for providing this service. The LAMBcast loves feedback, too. Either here in the comments section or to blogcabins@yahoo.com or to our Facebook page. Also, we're on iTunes, and would still love a review, even if it's a bad one.
I started the LAMB three years ago with a simple purpose: I had looked around the blogosphere and saw a void in the movie-blogging community. Sure, there were (and are) several blog directories out there, but they were (and are, for the most part) highly impersonal. They were "one size fits all" places where blogs of all types were listed, and it seemed you were left hoping that your needle was the one that was found amongst the hay. I had been blogging on my own movie blog for a little less than a year at that time and had formed several relationships with other bloggers. So I sent out an email to 30 or so of them telling them that I'd started this new directory.
It was a modest start, but an enthusiastic one. People were thrilled to have their own place to mingle and discover. An IMDb linking here and a LAMMY event there led to some serious word-of-mouth spreading, and the site's membership grew rapidly. We celebrated LAMB #201 the day before the site's first birthday, and #382 before its second. This last year has seen the largest growth, with the 736th LAMB posted yesterday, which means there have been nearly as many LAMBs added in the last year as in the first two combined...and there are over 30 more in the queue as I write this.
I've been overwhelmed by this growth, in ways both exciting and challenging. The bigger the site becomes, the harder it has been to maintain that personal touch and intimate feel. I've put out the call to contributors several times over the years and have been honored to have no less than 17 others bloggers step up and host an event or - better yet - run an ongoing feature of their own. Bloggers taking some additional time out of their days or weeks to not only run their own sites but help to make this a better, more all-encompassing place. It's been an awesome sight to see.
But this day of celebration is bittersweet. As you might have noticed (or might have seen via a Facebook update some days back), my role has diminished here over the last few weeks. A few events in my personal life have triggered this - one tragic and the other on the opposite side of the emotional spectrum. I lost my mother 11 days ago, a passing that has, as you might imagine, hurt me phenomenally and made an immediate impact on my life as I struggle to assist my father in any way I can. On the bright side, my wife and I are adopting our first child, a baby girl that is due in early December.
The combination of these events has forced me to take a look at the time I'll have left in my life for blogging, and the LAMB specifically. As a result, I am stepping down as your "shepherd" and handing the reins over to Rachel Thuro of Rachel's Reel Reviews. Rachel has ran the LAMBscores feature for some time now, has been a frequent LAMBcast participant, is a longtime LAMB (#43, I believe), and more importantly is a good friend and someone I know will run the LAMB well. I don't think she has any major changes planned, but she has my full blessing to do anything that she wishes to, and my confidence that whatever she does will be in the best interest of the site.
With that said, you won't be rid of me completely. I'm going to continue to run the LAMBcast, and I'm sure to be a participant in many of our features, from the aforementioned LAMBscores to the Director's Chair series and so on. I'll still be here, just in the background.
So happy birthday, LAMB! I look forward to seeing what you do in the next year.
LAMBs in the Director's Chair
Event #11 starring Alfred Hitchcock October 29th to 31st of 2010
< DAY THREE >
Happy Halloween to all the hardcore holiday fans out there! Today marks the third and final day of the Director’s Chair: Alfred Hitchcock edition. If you have not done so already it would be worthwhile to visit the first day and second day of the series in addition to the material for today. A large number of film reviews have been submitted for this series and I hope you have been able to read as many of them as you can possibly sift through. The reviews span across twenty-nine films that were released over the course of forty years. For the third and final day we will be looking at the last leg of film reviews that have been submitted. Some of these films are the most recognizable titles of Alfred Hitchcock’s career.
REVIEW FOR The Man Who Knew Too Much (1934 / 1956)
Upon conclusion I would like to offer a grateful amount of appreciation for those who have participated in the Director’s Chair series. The eleventh installment holds an impressive turnout of participation, which has proven to me to be interesting experience with coordinating the material into an organized event. I am looking forward to making the announcement of the candidate for the twelfth installment in the next couple of weeks. I hope you will be able to participate.
LAMBs in the Director's Chair
Event #11 starring Alfred Hitchcock October 29th to 31st of 2010
< DAY TWO >
Hurray for the second day of the Director’s Chair! Tomorrow is Halloween and we have already started spending the weekend with our good friend Alfred Hitchcock. He might know a little something about suspense and terror. If you have missed the first day of the event then visit this link here to jump back a day. For today we will have a peek at a few more editorials about Hitch’s career before moving on to a slew of reviews for his films. There have been so many reviews submitted for this series that we will be spanning across twenty-nine of his films by the end of this weekend! Twenty-nine movies and one of them is The 39 Steps, which is included in the list of reviews for today. Anyway, without further delay I would like to distract you with a pretty blonde actress.
CAREER EDITORIALS
As promised a few moments ago we will begin with a few editorials. Some of these articles are a part of a series, which includes the first string of editorials that were posted yesterday.
We have arrived at the end of the second day with a large list of good material to read. I hope the reviews and editorials have been insightful and interesting for you. There are plenty more to look forward to on the third day when we will wrap up the eleventh installment of the Director’s Chair series. See you all tomorrow and I wish you a safe and fun Halloween.

What is the main focus of your site?
Not reviewing films in the sense of good or bad but an ongoing record of the best things old and new in the cinematic world.
WOW! Thank you so much to everybody who not only sent in chops, but all these awesome people that wrote stuff as well! I know this is going to be a lot to read, but hey, isn't that what Halloween is about? READING about scary shit?
Anyway, this wiped me out, so I'll be taking next week off from the Bloody Chops. BUT YOU CAN STILL SEND THEM IN! Using this format: Site Name: Post Title: Link: Submitted By:
And emailing them to bloodychops@gmail.com, I'll post some more in two weeks. So give me something to work with. I'm still doing the regular version on Tuesday, so send in those as well to weeklylambchops@gmail.com by midnight Monday night, EST.
LAMBs in the Director's Chair
Event #11 starring Alfred Hitchcock October 29th to 31st of 2010
< DAY ONE >
It must be said at the very start of the proceedings for today that it has been posted quite a bit late in the day. My apologies for those who have been patiently waiting all day long to read the articles that will be linked in the first day of the Hitchcock themed event. The turnout for the current Director’s Chair event is tremendous, which has left me joyously surprised by the participation from everyone involved. Keep in mind that it is only the first day of a three day event, which means if you do not see a link for an article that you know has been submitted then you may need to keep an eye open in the next two days, because it will be posted. Without further ado I would like to distract you with a MacGuffin.
CAREER EDITORIALS
I would like to begin with a couple of editorials which view at various themes and elements of Hitchcock’s film career. Some of these articles are a single part in a series of essays written about Alfred Hitchcock and I am planning on posting the rest of the series of articles in the next two days.
REVIEW FOR Spellbound (1945) Spellbound [Life of a Cinephile and Bibliophile]
Make sure to return tomorrow, because there will be another long list of film reviews in addition to a couple more editorials about the original Hitch.
Hey gang, don't forget to send your Bloody Chops for tomorrow post. I want like 100 links! Let's go all out for Halloween! Send them in to bloodychops@gmail.com by midnight tonight EST.

Classic Chops enthusiastically welcomes any essay or post you’ve composed on a film classic—and even though I originally set the criterion at films released in 1965 and before, I have “cheated” a little and included films after that date that I don’t think too many people would dispute are “classics.” Just remember, send your submissions to classicchops@gmail.com by next Tuesday (November 3) at 6:00pm EDT…and any questions, comments, suggestions and planning and parking ticket validations should be addressed to that same e-mail address as well. Until next time…see you at the movies!

The board is set. The pieces are moving. Let there be blood!!
What it is LAMBs. Sebastian from Films From the Supermassive Black Hole here, ready to satisfy your cravings with another edition of Clash of the Lambs. Every week, I pit character against character and leave it to you to decide the victor. What's that? You cheer for blood? By jove, you'll have it!
For those who missed it, a recap of last weeks fight. After giving my PR department a piece of my mind, I turned my attention to the fight at hand. This was one of the closest fights in Clash history. Every contestant dealt a deadly blow to others, but only one came out on top in the end. With the Na'vi in the sky on its Ikran, the Tripod towering over the field, and the Prawn in its mech suit, there was no clear favorite in the beginning. The tripod fired its heat ray at the Na'vi while trying to lasso up the Prawn with its tentacles. The Na'vi ran strafing runs on both parties, firing its wicked arrows with deadly precision. The Prawn's superior firepower lay waste to the Tripod's shields, and brought down the Na'vi warrior's mount, sending the blue alien crashing to the ground. The Pandora native did not take kindly to that, and immediately sent an arrow flying at the Prawn, penetrating its armor, and instantly killing it. With the refugee out of the way, the shield-less Tripod and the mount-less Na'vi turned to face each other. It was tricky. The Tripod was relentless with its heat ray, but the Na'vi was too quick. It got up on the machine's shell, and attempted to get in. Unfortunately, the Tripod sent a tentacle up to ensnare the Na'vi. With the it's opponent captured, the Tripod sent a out a burst of heat ray, disintegrating the creature from Pandora.
The Results The Tripods: 9 Votes (Did not see that coming, to be honest.) The Na'vi: 8 Votes (Guess being wealthier than some countries can only take you so far.) The Prawns: 7 Votes (If only they had the sweetie man.)
So, get this. I walk into my office of pain this morning, and who do I find, but the Predator, all sombre and badass, the Xenomorph's skull still clutched in its hands. It was not happy. It did not like the fact that there was another extra-terrestrial out there that could soundly defeat multitudes of other species. How I figured out that this is what he meant is beyond me, as Predator's only talk in growls and roars. Anyway, his point came across. The hunter wanted to challenge the Tripod in one-on-one combat for the title of True Intergalactic Badass! I was getting weary of all this alien tomfoolery, but, those wrist blades are mighty effective instruments in persuasion. As I write this, my IT guys are working on a new robotic arm for me. Anyway, my hands were tied. We have a Championship Match in store for us this week.
As always, let's not make it a popularity contest. The Predator may have taken down the Xenomorph and the guys who blew up the White House, but that heat ray looks mighty dangerous for over here. The Tripod may have taken down the most profitable aliens of all time, but, a lot of the machine is made from organic material, and those wrist blades of the Predator's are wicked sharp. I should know. Think about it. Who would actually win?
Reminder: If you have ideas of fights you'd like to see played out in the ring, don't be coy little sheep. Sound off in the comments section or send an e-mail to sebguts10@yahoo.com. I will do everything in my power to make sure your bloodlust is satiated.
Alright, well, my new arm has been fitted on, and is working quite nicely. The Predator is activating its cloaking device. The Tripod is warming up its heat rays. I think it's about to time to start. The crowd is going wild. Let's make it happen!
3! 2! 1! FIGHT!!!
This is the last alien fight for awhile, I promise.
