Classic Chops enthusiastically welcomes any essay or post you’ve composed on a film classic—and even though I originally set the criterion at films released in 1965 and before, I have “cheated” a little and included films after that date that I don’t think too many people would dispute are “classics.” Just remember, send your submissions to classicchops@gmail.com by next Tuesday (January 4) at 6:00pm EDT…and any questions, comments, suggestions and broken noisemakers should be addressed to that same e-mail address as well. Until next time…see you at the movies!

PLUG: Flickering Myth

To commemorate the return of Peter Weir to the big screen, Trevor Hogg of Flickering Myth has put together a two-week retrospective honouring the man and his work. We will begin with his feature debut The Cars That Ate Paris (1974) and conclude with the acclaimed director’s latest offering The Way Back. Providing an extra dimension of understanding of the filmmaker and his movies are two of Weir’s frequent collaborators; both Oscar-winning cinematographer Russell Boyd and two-time Academy Award-nominated film editor Lee Smith agreed to be interview about their fellow countryman; their insights have been divided into a series of articles which will be dispersed throughout the blogathon. We are also looking to include a section linking to external articles on Peter Weir and his body of work – if you have written an article and would like to see it included please contact us at flickeringmyth@gmail.com. The retrospective will run from January 8th to January 21st so feel free to drop by and see what we have in store.

Much appreciated,

Gary Collinson

Poll Results; New Poll

Well, it looks like there was more Bruce Willis than George C. Scott (or whoever stars in your favorite version of A Christmas Carol) being watched by the LAMBs this week. Hopefully it was after all the kids went to bed.

Since 2010 is drawing to a close, what did you think of this year's films in general. LIONs for LAMBs will be coming up soon, probably the end of January, so this is just a teaser poll.
