The next Movie of the Month will be...

The poll results are in - thank you to the 58 voters who have made Oldboy the next MOTM. Here's what needs to go down from here:

* First thing you need to know is that May 14th is the big day.

* You have a little over two weeks (sorry, this post is a couple days late) to watch the flick if you haven't already, and to write up something, then send me the link (blogcabins@yahoo.com) to either what you write or something previously written. If you're planning on doing the former, please hold the post in draft until the 14th (you can send a link prior if you have the capability to do so).

* On May 7th, we'll be recording our MOTM-themed episode of the LAMBcast, where we'll dissect and discuss Oldboy. I'd offer you a spot on that show, but it's already filled up! (For info about future shows, head over to the LAMB Forums to claim your spots.)

* On the 14th, the LAMBcast will be posted, as well as all of the links to anything written. In addition, I'll include a poll to decide what the next MOTM flick will be. If you have suggestions, leave them in the comments here (though I imagine I'll include most of the films from this last poll that received a good percentage of the votes). That poll will run for a week, and then there'll be three weeks until the next event, and so on.

Here are the final results of the poll:

* Oldboy, Basket Case, Midnight Run, and Being There will be removed from the next poll, leaving four spots for new suggestions.

REMINDER: Vote in the 2011 LAMMYs; Also, I Need a Favor

So the 2011 LAMMY Nomination Poll has been up for a week and a half and I want to thank the 38 LAMBs who've cast their ballots so far. However, there is still a week and a half to go and we're not yet at half the voters we had for the 2010 LAMMYs. So the rest of you eligible LAMBs (#1-900) please go vote:

http://www.misterpoll.com/polls/521956

If you don't know where to start out of 900 blogs, here's some advice:

1. Scroll back through all the fantastic For Your Consideration Banners that have ruled the site for the past week. Thanks to all 69 of you who have taken the time to make them and send them in, so far. It's not too late to send one if you haven't yet.

2. Check out the completely updated Sortable Table (very handy for Best Classic and Sci-Fi/Horror Blog Awards) and Scrollbox available. By updated, I mean dead and inactive LAMBs have been put to pasture, and all the new LAMBs have been added.

Speaking of the Table and Scrollbox, I need a favor from every LAMB reading this: please find your site on both and verify that everything is in working order (i.e. your site's name is spelled correctly and reflects the current site name, your url works and links to your site, your site is listed and wasn't accidentally considered "dead", etc.). If you cannot find your site or need changes made, please comment below or email me. I don't know if you don't tell me.

Thanks in advance!

Classic Chops enthusiastically welcomes any essay or post you’ve composed on a film classic—and even though I originally set the criterion at films released in 1965 and before, I have “cheated” a little and included films after that date that I don’t think too many people would dispute are “classics.” Simply send your submissions to classicchops@gmail.com by May 3 at 6:00pm EST…and any questions, comments, suggestions and forwarded magazines should be addressed to that same e-mail address as well. Until next time…see you at the movies!
